What happened
Great Days Out UK has released a free Christmas Workbook packed with varied activities for children. This 21-page printable guide offers festive games, colouring pages, homemade decorations, Christmas recipes, and puzzles aiming to entertain families throughout December. The workbook suits a wide range of settings, whether at home during the school holidays or out on winter walks.
The booklet features a special Christmas countdown calendar that replaces daily chocolate treats with fun challenges such as making paper snowflakes, writing to Father Christmas, or taking festive outdoor strolls. Many activities are linked within the workbook, encouraging children to tick off each day’s challenge and maintain anticipation leading up to Christmas Day.
Why it feels good
This workbook is designed to bring families together with simple, creative activities that do not require a big budget or elaborate planning. The blend of indoor crafts, baking, outdoor explorations, and games helps children stay engaged and excited while nurturing family connections and seasonal spirit.
Its inclusivity of outdoor activities like the Winter Walk I Spy and Christmas Lights Hunt encourages appreciation of nature and local festive displays, supporting healthy activity outside the home. These moments provide wholesome entertainment that sparks curiosity and creates lasting seasonal memories for children and parents alike.
What to enjoy or watch next
Families can print the full workbook or select favourite pages to fit their schedules and interests, making it flexible as a resource. For added magic, parents can complement the workbook activities with visits to local Christmas light trails or Santa grottos, many of which Great Days Out also curates across the UK.
Additionally, the workbook’s letter to Father Christmas page and the Christmas Wish and Giving Lists cultivate generosity and reflection in children. Such thoughtful tasks deepen the festive experience beyond gift-giving, promoting kindness and joyful participation in holiday traditions.
