The Chenhu Migratory Bird Observation Tower, created by Shanghai’s Xiang Architects, recently opened in the rural area near Wuhan, China. The 19.9-meter-tall structure is designed to provide a dedicated space for watching migratory birds that flock to the Chenhu Wetland from October through March. Its monumental, brutalist-inspired twisting form stands prominently on a 22-meter natural elevation called Xianglushan.
Inside, visitors discover a unique double-helix layout of two intertwining staircases that ascend and descend in opposite directions.
